Bullet recovered in fox skin

Boring story of a partial bullet recovered...

So last time i was out knocking roos a fellow i was with popped a fox with his 223...
The fox was shot front on high in the shoulder, & exited out its other side, just behind the chest cavity high on the body...

I was sure the fox would have been an exploded sack of guts, but to my surprise i looked like the bullet missed all bones & exited without blowing big holes...

The guy said he wants a fur so i skun it out & said id tan it for him.

Well i fleshed it out today, & while i was peeling back the fatty layer a dark blob appeared...

Im pretty sure it was a 55gr...from factory ammo--ill find out during the week.

The remains weigh 22.6 gr...the jacket 13.5gr & whats left of the core being 9.1gr...

Yeah stix it looks very much like a plastic tip amax or vmax or the like I use 55gr ''think it's vmax'' and they make a nice little hole on the way in and I have never had one exit I've found a few in dogs and they look exactly like yours also they bang flop animals with ease when solidly hit

Yea,
I know the guy has been messing about with loads a bit of late, & i seem to remember him mentioning OSA ammo at some stage...so it could be a Sierra blitzking...

Some of the bullet definately exited though...!
I used the compressor to help pop the skin & had to pinch the exit hole to keep the air in the body...

Ill find out what bullet this week & let you know...

It is amazing how elastic the skin is and great at catching bullets. A fox skin is pretty thin but still caught that bullet.

Yea SCJ...Im surprised it caught anything...not much to a fox skin at all...& whilst im no expert, i cant see how the remains of it hold such symmetry...
I did say it entered the shoulder---what i meant to say was it entered just inside the (left from memory) shoulder front on (so chest entry)...so im assuming that part didnt hit bone...?...or it hit bone pretty square on...?

Anyway, turns out it is a hand load, & the bullet is/was a Sierra 55gr Hollow point boat tail Gameking...
