What 243 bullet for wild dogs in Australia?

Hey all.

After some advice on choosing a hunting bullet for dogs here in Aus.

I'm normally shooting 55gr for bunnies and punching paper.

How heavy do you guys recommend bullet to go for dogs here?

Thanks.

I found the 75gr Vmax quite explosive with huge exit wounds

Nothing bigger than 80gr required IMO.

Shoots flat, recoil friendly and all the rest. Plenty of damage as Chronos said, more than enough for dogs.

No need to bother with heavier stuff like the 95gr or 105gr pills, just adding to your drop and recoil for no reason with these IMO.

Your 55g will be fine, most pros use a 223 that I know of.

55gr fine for dogs IMO.

On the subject of 80gr though, if you do work up a load with 80gr + pills that's a small deer legal round too, so there is that.

Two birds with one stone as it were.
See you on the firing line.

*nod*

Thin skin, no thick bones, no need to go heavy on the pills.
Whatever you do, don't look at the mayonnaise...

Thanks guys.

Working my way through some a box of 70gr and 75gr now which are showing good results.

A bit more testing required but I think I've got a load nailed down now.
