Nothing under 500yds with the 22-250

Post by Elmer » 03 Oct 2019, 6:57 pm

Heres a quick vid of a few Bunnies and a cat taken at 500+ yards with the 22-250, the cat was shot at 565yds and was donged through the head  .
The wind (even though not that strong)was once again blowing directly behind me and shifting direction which made reading tricky and was enough for a complete miss at that range....and yes I did miss a few
cheers,
Sean

Thanks mate, yeah the wind was going from left to right , right to left with enough force to make a missing shot.
I much prefer a crosswind with consistent direction, even if its gusty, at least you can get a reasonable reading from it.
cheers.

#...what is it, ?...

#...How accurate has it shown the little cheapy you replaced to be...?

#...Does it give you better averages than the other one...?

Cheers

Hey Sean, Congrats Mate.
I absolutely love the sound of those shots as it comes across on the vid.

You need to come up here,, and practice on the roos,, cos with the drought,,,,, and no feed,,,, they never stop moving.
I watch em throughout the nights when I'm out waiting for dogs, and they are constantly ambling in search of something to eat.
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!
I've come to realize that,,,,, the two most loving, loyal, and trustworthy females in my entire life were both canines.

I got it from Jaycar, it's a DIGITECH QM-1646 Hand held Anemometer.
It's much more accurate and will pick up faint breezes where as the other one didn't even register, which is important for long range stuff where a slight breeze can cause a complete miss.
I don't use the average setting , I use the max velocity setting , then i set the turrets at a particular wind reading and keep an eye on the meter and wait till the reading matches the turret adjustments again and touch off.
It works well for me ....just ask that cat.
By the way, how's the r/f going?

You should be able to get up here in the Vee Dubb for around about ???? $1-35 worth of fuel.

Haven't actually used the waggler itself yet,, as I'm mostly in the dark and just trying out the various calls on it.
One afternoon I'll maybe try just for foxes because a dog would probly be too suss of scent on it, and I'm not gonna leave it out
there for a couple of weeks.
