Mate, that's the situation in some NPs in Vic. OK for about 6 months to shoot deer. BUT, can't pull the trigger on any pests, including wild dogs. Just a joke.

In the early 1960's where I used to live, the property bounded a National Park.
At one time the rabbit numbers increased dramatically,,,,,, and the "Parks & Wildlife" gurus of the time decided to do a "real good job"
and clean up the rabbit population in the park.
So they aerial baited the entire park with 1080 carrots.

Shortly thereafter, wherever you went in the park there was a stench of rotting carcasses.
The idiots had forgotten about the roos,, and virtually wiped them out. :problem: :problem:

Lesson learnt I guess, because after that they started using the disc/furrow method and trailing 1080 oats around the perimeter only.

Nothing was said or reported on the news about the stuff up,,,, and it was only people that lived there basically that knew about it.

Wow that's plain stupid. Other than in WA it's obvious you would kill multiple native herbivores etc

Yeah,,,, I can remember that one of the "Einstein's" visited before they did it, and told my Father what they were gonna do.

And because I used to spend a lot of time in the park on weekends,,, my Father warned me "not to eat any carrots if I found any"
