Cat Trap

Post by Stu222 » 27 Sep 2021, 8:34 pm

Evening Gents,

Does anyone have a cat/possum trap I could borrow?

I’ve got a visitor leaving deposits in the kids sandpit.

Cheers,

I had this problem but in the veg garden. But it stopped after I started tossing the poop over the neighbours fence. The theory is they start pooping in the neighbours yard. (Smell) In a week I will be more certain if it has worked, but so far so good after a week.

We know a couple that had heaps of trouble with a neighbouring cat. They trapped it numerous times and delivered it to the council each time, where the owner had to keep collecting it. Eventually the cat stopped visiting so something changed, although it's very likely another neighbour simply shot it.

Have a read of the Animal Welfare Act.
Greens are pushing to make it illegal to shoot feral cats in Victoria, will only be allowed to trap and deliver to authorities.

couldnt think of a worse use of ratepayer dollars, 50c 12 gauge BB round to the broadside or head... nuff said. ALL cats outside are a declared pest in Australia, not one Cat outside is a Pet, only those kept indoors or in enclosures on private property are pets.

I had cats on a revolving door of useless bulls**t from the council once, they used to harass and kill my pet birds, needless to say I set a trap regularly and the council did nothing but give the s**t things back to their owners and rinse/repeat, so one day I trapped nearly all of them in a spare aviary, had 5 in one go, took them all down the far and shot them. The next week was the same, but 3 cats, after that there was a 6 month break of no cats in the trap, followed by the odd one every few months, needless to say they all got the lead injection. Councils see your harmless idiot loving dog out on the street, throw the book at you then put your dog down after a couple goes, but for some reason a cat is allowed to just do as it pleases? bit rich I say.

They can move soooo fast when released from the cage.
Have a mate pop the cage open when you say "PULL!"
Good old sporting chance

The animal liberation movement would have it illegal to shoot any animal if they'd have it their way.
I certainly hope they don't get any traction... I'd be surprised if they do.

If you read the latest newsletter from Straight Shooting,,,,,, they certainly have traction in NSW.

Apparently tabled or about to,,,,,, a bill that when taken to the letter,,, would present a 5 year gaol term for anyone (including farmers) for shooting
anything, including stock that need to be put down.

Have you given the local council a ring? Some have traps available.
I use 1/2 tin Aldi cat food no expense spared and could do a few dry runs before arming the trap. The local council has holding pens for uninjured cats and digs.
I have one you could borrow but the freight would exceed the cost of getting one off Ebay - get the larger size.
Good luck.

Had a neighbour who let her cat out at all times of the day. Crapped all over my yard, killed native wildlife etc. I set a possum trap and caught the critter, and took it back to her, trying to explain what the cat was doing. All I copped was an ear full of abuse. This problem continued for a few more weeks. Set the trap again, caught the critter.
Took the trap the local council vet agent, playing dumb but explaining what was going on with the cat killing etc. The vet scanned the the cat, picked up the info from the micro chip and held on to the cat until the owner was contacted. Apparently the owner was real sh&%ty that she had to pay to get her cat back.
Let this go for about another month, but the cat continued to roam, so for a third time the trap was set. Caught the bugger again, BUT this time I took it miles away to the RSPCA depot, and told them what was happening with this cat and this irresponsible owner.
To date I have heard nothing and not seen the cat.

Do I remember that book " 101 Uses for a dead cat "

Yep, certainly do,,,,,,
My then sisterinlaw (bitch of a thing) had a cat that liked jumping up onto her stove and p!ssing on it.

One day I suggested that she leave it switched on,,,,,,,,,, whereas I was told to go f@#% myself.

So, when Xmas came I got a copy of that book, wrapped it, and put it under the family Xmas tree with her name written on it.
That was 20 or so years ago,,,,,, and I think the fall out is still raining down in that part of the world.
