Roo shooting in QLD

Post by Boundry Rider » 10 Aug 2022, 6:32 pm

Anyone able to shed light on roo shooting criteria in QLD. Not shooting in public areas just by invitation on private property.
I have a suspicion that there's more to it than here in WA.

Thanks in advance for all constructive replies.

Landowner has to have cull permits I think.

I would expect you'd have to have completed the roo shooting qualification thingie as well, I think that's pretty much always required.

The document in this link gives a good explanation about the process in Queensland. Looking at the guidelines and application form it does seem like a fair bit of mucking around. I prefer our system in WA where we have a declared open season. Obviously roos here are prolific and abundant.

See below for the link to the Damage Mitigation Permit application.

Yep, I think northern NSW and QLD are going to get a population explosion from all the weather over the last 18 months though.

Good information to have B64, thanks for the links.

Not a problem. I suspect you are spot on about exploding roo numbers in that part of the world. It’s a pity for landholders over there that there is such a rigmarole for getting culling permission.
