Hunting NT public land

Post by on_one_wheel » 26 Nov 2022, 11:06 am

I'm in the early stages of planning a trip to the top end, I'll be making the most of the trip taking my merry lazy ass time to get up there and back and staying up there as long as possible, preferably months.

I'm not keen on forking out for a guided hunts , its not my style as I prefer my own independence, roughing it on the cheap and create my own free adventure.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone with knowledge and experience in the best NT public land to hunt. :drinks:

Last time I checked there were only four tiny parcels of public land for hunting, just out of Darwin.

Is there other public land somewhere in NT for hunting?

It's not looking good for public land :?
Postage stamp sized plot next door to suburban Darwin, I'd bet she's a very busy spot.

Yep. The article you posted is old but it looked like opening land up to hunters again. Could be worth trying to follow up whether it went anywhere or even still exists. In NT your best bet is to chase up landowners, but I suspect a lot of them want to be paid for the privilege.

It's only Vic and NSW that still have public land, and NSW expects you to get an additional licence and book before venturing out.
Don't know if Tassie still has public land.

Do you know where?
I've looked a few times over the years and all I've seen is these few tiny places.
