Hunting in general, updates ?

It seems as though I am one of very few (possibly zero) members here that are actually getting out in amongst the bushes,,,,,,,,,,,,,
at the moment,, and actually hunting.
Surely the cost of fuel and interest rates aren't biting that hard (yet)

It is around here my local gun store has noticed around 30% drop in sales which is quite a lot for a small country town
He has also cut back on staff and hours the store is open

Interest rates and fuel shouldnt really stop you from hunting, a 2nd job might thou.

Ive hunted more in the last 6 months than the previous 5 years, just dont post reports but I sure do appreciate your post Die Judicii

On tues im having a stenth fitted somewhere in my heart ( the doc i reckon has a better idea of exactly where than i do ) I have already been given a list of what to do before and afterwards.... unfortunately amongst the list of what not to do i found ...no climbing though barbed wire fences with loaded shotguns and highlighted in bold letters was .. stricly no chaseing pigs across stubble paddocks in the dark on a quadbike even if its really flat with no melonholes

More about time for me. I get things organised to happen then something comes up that knocks everything on the head
Rose's uncle died last week so we had family here for the funeral. I spent time making targets again instead of going shooting (I was still shooting .22LR here though). Then the bloke that said he wanted to buy the Yeomans Plow over two months ago finally transferred the money this week so I had to crate that up and get it into the freight company yesterday.

I don't think cost increases effect single people as much as they do families and younger people just starting out in an independent life. If it costs another $10 a week a lot of people can find that by making some adjustment somewhere. But for a family with kids, or a young woman renting on her own in the city, it can require some juggling.

My two weeks off starts Friday - hog deer, reds and fallow.

Have been doing a fair bit of Rabbit culling in the Adelaide hills using .22lr subs and CCIs quiet.
Several small property owners have contacted me to thin out the Rabbits, (the smallest property is 2 acres lol)which I sell..pays the bills.
Some owners pay me to thin out the Bunnies which most welcome.
Have been trying to get a LR vid together but there is little around at my long range haunts, so I'm looking for another patch to do some LR on.

i went out to bollon qld over xmas, terrica qld 2 weeks after . plenty of dead pigs , nothing worth bragging about . everything i pointed my 6.5x55 t3 at died . knocked over about 25 grey grasshoppers as well at the request of the property owners. back out at terrica in 5 weeks . there's rusa on that property , but i've yet to see one . saw the usual emu's (seems to be a population boom in southern qld) , as well as echidna's , lace monitors and the most beautiful cockertoos i've ever seen, the major mitchell. google for images they really are something

Saw some very nice red tailed cockatoo s at a wildlife pk bout a month ago. Radial yellow spot pattern from the eyes. I was unaware of their beauty previously. Pic attached.

that's nice blr . we certainly have some amazing parrots in this country . everytime i go to a different part of qld i see a different parrot i haven't seen before . saw red rosselas at tenterfeild years ago . another beautiful ozzie parrot

We had sugar gliders here when we came, and flying foxes would drop by occasional to eat the loquats - haven't seen either for years now. But there weren't Indian mynas either then.

I have a spot we take the van to in the desert.
Just down the road there is a family of rainbow bee eaters. They live in burrows in the dunes. Great to watch them catch insects in flight.

some great bird pics fellas . non-hunting people i explain my trips to are often supprised about the passion i have for seeing some of our great native species i see when i'm out bush . just sitting quietly and watching the bush and it's animals is very relaxing and "earthing" for me . i try to explain to folks my trips aren't just about pulling a trigger

I got several duck guns. Miroku Mk70 camo, Beretta Silver Pigeon 12 and 20G

but the one I love shooting is the Webley and Scott 2020 20G sxs
