It's on again, & in frosty weather

Post by Die Judicii » 29 May 2023, 10:43 pm

Well it looks like yet another hunt is about to start,, and in bloody cold frosty weather.
I got a call tonite from a land owner that has had half a dozen ewes killed by a dog/s in the past fortnight.
I've shot successfully on this blokes property in the past.
He is usually very successful at trapping dogs,, but when he gets a particularly difficult to find or trap dog he calls me.
So,, unless he manages to get it before killing too many more, it looks like I'm gonna have to brave the cold frosty nights again.
 :unknown:

Goodluck.
Found a couple of dogs on my property the other day but by the time I went and got the rifle they had gone.

I saw on facebook, the northern tablelands and higher elevation areas up to the tropics have had some pretty strong frosts in the past 2 weeks.

Good luck. I am normally tucked up in bed letting my traps do their work. But doing spotlighting currently

Will do Mate, It's only a 350 acre paddock, and this one seems at this stage to have somehow magically found a way in through the 7' high exclusion fence which also has a double row hot wire inside and outside.
Ground is mostly hard and no tracks are evident.

Trouble is ,,,, if its found a way of getting in,, it most likely also knows how to get out again, and we don't know if it is in at the moment or not.
Tomorrow night will be the fourth night since its last known kill,, so we should get some indication then.

Maybe it's a hybrid dog with wings

Even given the skills involved in trapping,, it's not for me.
I get so much satisfaction in getting them the way I do.
