Another Sunset Boar..

Met this gent just before sunset, while running a track looking for dog signs.

He trots off, and ran into a 75gn Rexem F-Bomb (.223) pill at around the 55 metres mark.
Dropped him on the spot, and I couldnt find the entry wound.

I'm guessing roughly 35-40 kgs.

Happy with that.

Blew a Minipig apart 5 days back, and a half-grown boar @ ~100 metres the day before.
Now that I have it all dialled in, I'm finding these Rexem F-Bombs to be fantastic.

Not quite sure what you are asking..

Where did I aim?
Boiler room; about a 45 degree angle to the rear from side-on..
From the way he dropped, I expect it was pretty close to where I aimed.

Well developed set of tusks on him for his size..

Funny thing,,,,,, good tusks seem to be few and far between around here for some reason.
Some of the pigs get to massive sizes, but very few have decent choppers and slashers.

Just been thinking about this comment regarding the tusks.

We've seen some huge sets of tusks on boars over the past 6 months or so, and very few of the boars have no tusks.
Even quite young boars seem to (usually) have a great set of choppers on them.

Makes me wonder if average seasonal conditions mightn't influence tusk size?

How has your season been overall?
Ours has been pretty good for the past 2 years or so, though gotten quite dry now.
[Mind you, we are usually pretty dry towards the middle/end of winter, so what we have right now is likely pretty average season.]

The many mysteries of nature...Like WHY a quail would choose to break into my house and get stuck behind my chest freezer??
[Quentin the Quail was released back with his 20+ brethren who stalk our house yard, though I copped a stern glaring from young Quentin about the indignities...]
