First Dog In A Trap!

Hi All

Wanted to share a little victory I had this past week.

After 18 months of trying, I finally got my first dog in a trap!

Then two days later, I got a second one!

I'm pretty stoked. Combining this with another four foxes I got about a month ago with the thermals, we'll hopefully have some smaller natives breed up and have a few more deer calves survive and grow into bigger stags!

For those who want the details:

-I’d have a dozen different dogs come up on various trail cameras around our block, but not really more than once or twice a month.

-I tried putting a trail camera in a new spot where a gully opens out into a track we recently cut along the back of the block.

-The track has roos and deer going along it almost every day, but more importantly it was getting dogs and foxes going along it every 3-4 days, sometimes consecutive days. (Including a pack of 5 blonde looking ones)

-I put 3 traps in, and had a dog take the bait from a hide hole and narrowly miss stepping on the trap (when I pulled the traps I realised it was triggered but didn’t set off, so I put a blind trap in behind it a foot away)

-I got the black dog the next day in a different trap on the other side of the track.

-Two days later I got the smaller one in the blind trap I put near the hide hole (he too must have stood on the pan of the trap that had failed as the meat was gone from the hidden hole)

-Still got all the blonde dogs kicking around but had to pull traps to come back home. Might get another chance next week before work starts mid Jan
