Another round of bunny busting

Post by bigfellascott » 19 Jul 2014, 9:52 pm

Went for a quick run around to see if we could see some bunnies - I managed to shoot 3 (one ended back down its hole) It was a tad windy tonight but saw around 6 or 8 but they are a bit gun shy now  they definitely don't want to sit still for more than a second or 2 and they are off in all directions, bloody well makes it hard to shoot em when they are like that! :D

The daughter was the driver tonight and I was on the gun. The little Kubota is a great little hunting vehicle and very capable indeed (not that you need 4wd on this particular property) has power steering, gears are Low, Medium and High, and of course 2wd and 4wd, its just a matter of selecting what one you want and stand on the gas, very easy to drive and its a diesel too (she's not mine but I wish it was). ;)

The list of things I want to buy just keeps growing and growing! Time to get the back fixed so I can get back to work and start earning my shooting dollars I think!

if I'm ever good enough to shoot and kill anything, I'll be sure to post pix up!
Back from a break, and ready to shoot again :)

They were there mate, they had light and driving duties that time :D the bloody bunnies were hard to get let me tell ya, they weren't real keen to sit still this time round, the light would go on them and they would run all over the place trying to avoid the light, bloody hard to shoot em with any degree of accuracy (headshots) when they are like that.

I heard and interesting story.

When was going through rimfire ammo testing years back, I ran a test on Winchester Dynapoint. Though it had a small hollow dimple in the front, I could not get them to expand at all.

I was told by an older gent that the Dynapoint was developed at the behest of the Australian Government for bunny control, and was intentionally made to overpenetrate so that ammo was not wasted when shooting trapped bunnies in pens, the idea being two or more rabbits per shot.

True? I don't know.

Josh

Put down the computer and go and silence them Lindsay! I was thinking about going out for a bit of a look this morning but the youngest daughter came home and informed me she has a touch footy game on today so that's put the kibosh on that idea.

I look forward to seeing how you go Westy, I haven't been after em for a good few mths now - I really need to fix that! :D Every time I want to head out something seems to get in the way - either the weather turns crap or I've got other things happening that prevent me from getting out.

Good luck and get lots of pics - oh by the way where is fox heaven? ;)
