They say there are two kinds of chronograph, those that have been shot and those that will. My chronograph went from the latter to the former today.

Luckily it was only a grazing shot on one of the screens. 1mm to the left and the whole screen would have been rooted.

Is that just the screen side support of a passive screen or is it the side support of an IR screen ? They are fairly easy to hit .

Just a passive screen. Yeah it could have been worse. I made sure I bought a chrono where the computer sits on the bench with me so if (when) I shoot it I only have to replace a screen or sensor which is relatively inexpensive

I see , the IR screens have wires in the side that can get cut by a bullet , easy to repair as long as the arm stays in one piece . My old shooting chrony got hit by someone's 22 rim fire bullet or ricochet at the range and it hit the electronics , stuffed it . I have the same as you know one that sits on the bench and just the sensors down range but I don't set it up at any ranges anymore there is too many unreliable shooters at very short ranges . Even with the unit only 15 feet out it still got hit by someone . I use mine mainly on private property now .

s**t, that's unlucky! I had a couple guys shooting over mine at the pistol club today but they were all very careful not to cause any damage. Right before I shot this screen I was joking that I'd be the one to shoot it  Lucky it was just a nick

Come on fess up. Who's "removed" a radio antenna from their ute while spotlighting? :-)
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

 I've seen Ute trays shot from people resting across them and forgetting the barrel is lower than the scope

I think 10 feet from is 'standard' for most?

Bugger.

Does it effect the chrono and need fixing or is it just cosmetic?

Just cosmetic. The bit that got shot is only there to hold the shade in place. Worse case scenario some electric tape would fix it
