:D Not as much as .257 Weatherby Mag on Hares or 50BMG on Hares or .204 Ruger on Galahs....there's no such thing as being over gunned. :D :D :D

I was in the same pickle when deciding to go 223 or 243. After watching a few videos of what a 243 does to foxes/rabbits I ended up going for the 223!

Even with light pills a body shot on a rabbit with a .243 will turn 2/3 of it to mice meat and destroy the pelt.

Light pill or no the velocity is too just much to expect little damage.

Headshot would be your only chance of having much left.

I strictly use .500 Nitro Express for rabbit control. Usually does the trick :)

I've had that problem with rabbits in the veggie patch - lettuce, carrots and tomatoes and if you line the bunny up right, you get sushi rabbit on a tossed salad, just add rice. No worries.

Most Australian animals are more dangerous than their foreign counterparts - including our rabbits!

Be serious you guys,
A .243 is probably not the ideal choice for wabbits,, but it can be done if that is what you wanna do.

I regularly take rabbits with my 22/250 using Win 45 GR JHPs at 4,000 fps.
Strict head shot placement gives a full headless pelt, and sometimes a little bruising of the neck.
The rest is good for either the table or dog food.

It doesn't look any different to a rabbit that's had its head chopped off with a trimming axe.

So I guess the same thing could be done with a .243
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!
I've come to realize that,,,,, the two most loving, loyal, and trustworthy females in my entire life were both canines.
