Might be too cold for them. Still seeing a few around here but they aren't staying above ground as often.

Weren't the powers that be releasing a new virus strain against the rabbits there?

Success?

The new strain of Calicivirus has been engineered to withstand cooler climates.
It should help increase it's success rate in the Southern / South Eastern parts of the country.

The rabbit's are still a little quite at the moment but they are still there underground and will be raising big litters very shortly.

They just don't like wind and rain, when they're out they don't need to go far for a good feed.

I'm seeing them out catching some rays during the short fine periods we get between showers.
The other day I seen big groups not far from their burrows.

I was up in the New England last week and bagged several large and fat bunnies in about 20 minutes

Where I go they put down 1080 about 4 months ago and now I see very few out there. How long does 1080 normally last does anyone know?

1080 lasts blody ages ... well and truly long enough for it to be there until its all been eaten.

One property I shoot on also poisons rabbits.
The last lot went down 6 months ago. They are due to put down another batch now as the rabbit's look to be increasing in numbers again and it's showing on the edge of the crops.

There is a more virulent strain of the Callisi virus that has shown up in SA. It went through the Hills area when l was over there in April May. This is not the new strain that is due for release 2017-18 but, a mutation of the old strain.

Lets hope the remote probability that it mutates and makes the jump to human infection never happens.
