Crop destroying Bunnies pt 2.

Post by Elmer » 25 Jul 2016, 6:37 pm

Well I was back at the crops on Saturday only to discover that the property owner had filled in all of the holes, but after closer inspection the Bunnies had once again dug themselves out of up to 60% of the burrows. At first I thought it was going to be a waste of time (before a closer look) but then I decided to hang around anyway, just in case.
Well Im glad I did , and about two hours before dusk the furry residents emerged to mow down more wheat shoots.
Towards the end of the day the wind dropped down to zero so I could see no reason to pop some at 400yds plus..which I did with the .223, no fancy you beaut 60-80 grain VLD target bullets, just good ol 55 grainers is all that was needed to score.
I reckon I could have popped some at 500yds had the targets presented themselves but I was pretty happy with the rifle and ammo's performance so I cant complain.

The weather was great Saturday. Shes been blody terrible since!

I was too busy to get out again and wont be able to until next Tuesday... my trigger finger is already itchy.

That's some great shooting out to 400 yards.
Well done.

Are you estimating hold over or "cheating" with a CDS scope?

Either way I love your skills.

Thanks mate, no I dont guess or use a CDS scope, just a ballistics chart I drew up myself and the standard 4 clicks per MOA scope. BUT I do use a anemometer and a rangefinder which is essential for stretch out work.

Very nice shooting.

It's actually not that easy to hit something the size of a footy from 400-500m away.

What rig is that? (scope & rifle, I see its a .223).

Yep, I live by the Bremer River SA, shes flowing pretty well now.

We are in for a cracker of a Spring, the ground will be soaked just nicely for a change.
