Caliber for hunting pests in state forest deer habitat.

Varminting and vertebrate pest control. Small game, hunting feral goats, foxes, dogs, cats, rabbits etc.

If your not hunting a calibre regulated species then as for mention the PCA 1986 would provide polarising views on minimums.....

Not sure if you are referring to public land generally, or just deer reserves, but you do not need a game licence to hunt pest animals on crown land, there is no permit required for hunting pests in Victoria.

Conflicting information from government departments is nothing new.

Correct.

The letter from DELWP is ONLY to justify you shooters licence when you apply or renew.

That's if you don't have a letter from a land owner/farmer or Game Licence or club membership.

Not conflicting, but is confusing.

That's the only set back here in QLD we can't even shoot on crown land unless a given permission applied for and given from state forest department or national parks department we have umpteen scrubbers, pigs, wild dogs, ie pests and we can't access them until they encroach onto your land or private land that you have access to and they wonder why pest numbers are growing, i'm sure those making the rules couldn't find their way home after dark

GDB, Yeh, but we are slowly losing that "privilege".

Another huge area in Vic has gone to NPs. The Department Neglected Parks. Probably just lost about 40% of State Forrest in Western Victoria.
