Gun-nut

With that one you can either hold it and push it against ya lips to use it or if you want both hands free hold it in front of ya teeth with your lips wrapped over it.

Making it sound like an injured rabbit is just a matter of knowing what they sound like when injured and blowing at different pressures to replicate the sounds.

Its just something you need to play around with a bit and you will get the hang of it.

Gun-nut

As a pup I learned very well what they sounded like from using these, well up until I was allowed to take the gun out on my own :D

Image

Really got them going ;) The ferrets often got them going good too at times too. Bound to be some footage of this stuff online :)

Foxes will respond too all sorts of noises, they are inquisitive and anything that sounds stressed or in danger seems to attract their attention. Have a look for a Scotch Predator Caller, it works well I find.

The things I use for foxes are:-

Tenterfield Whistle
Tin Whistle
Penny Whistle
Homemade Tenterfield Whistle
Best Call Whistle
Scotch Predator Caller
Bombala Whistle
Fox Pro
Styrofoam
and a kissing sound from the lips when they are close by

This is the Fox Pro Caller - it's got lots of diff sounds on it from birds to rabbit type noises to fox howls to coyotes etc. Foxes generally respond well to the diff rabbit and bird calls

Cheers DD, those 2 I nailed at 276m with the 204 Howa - the bigger one showed up first and 20sec or so the son decided to stick his head out from behind the blackberry bushes too :D , and yeah definitely don't limit yourself to just 1 type of caller, I'll often switch between all of them to try and entice a fox to show up.

Ya look like Mr T but who gives a rats, just so long as they get results is that matters to me, :D

Yeah the ferrets definitely get them squealing at times especially when the rabbits get caught in the nets. I love hearing the commotion underground, just about G'tees seeing a rabbit in the net soon after.

Similar to me, 30mm high at 100m gives zero at around 250m.

Yeah it works out something like that I guess (can't say I've measured it on paper as such) but tested out on bunnies heads seems to be pretty much spot on from memory.
