Last night, being rather frosty and very very still, I decided to take the NiteSite and the 22/250 out.
I drove the ute down into the front paddock, and parked.
In the back, I had a chair, and a tea chest for rest,,,,, alongside the rack containing ammo, whistles etc.

I sat my custom made swiveling rifle rest on the tea chest, and attached the NiteSite.
I turned it on and started looking around, and immediately found three very large hares feeding about 170 metres out.

3 successive shots, and I had all three.
It took me longer to set up than it did to shoot em.

Being such a still frosty night, I couldn't believe how loud the shots seemed to be.
Each shot echoed, and actually reached some large hills about 3 kilometres away, and then returned.
It was like listening to a replay of each shot several times over.

Took some pics, but didn't look at them in detail till I had finished cutting and bagging for dog food. (sorry about the blood)

Nice one mate, (don't worry about the blood that's just part of hunting and if people can't handle that they shouldn't be on forums where firearms and hunting are involved).

Any pics of the seat setup you mentioned?

It's nothing special Mate, just a fold up wooden chair, but it serves its purpose

Apparently, (there is a fourth one down there) that I was told about from a visitor that was leaving not long after I got back to the house.
Maybe if I get time I might do a second sorte tonight.

Well I went out again tonite (6/7/17) and got the fourth one.

They sure are creatures of habit.

I don't know what happened to the vertabrae,,,,,,, one side looked fine but all that held the head on was skin.
There was about 2" of neck bone just gone.

This one is going to be stew for me.
:D

Hares provide a surprising amount of red meat in one carcass.

Tip - lots of onions and a decent red wine. If you are not prepared to drink the red wine don't cook with it!

NiteSite 200 mate, it's sposed to do 200 meters, but exceeded that when it was new.
It seems to have decreased a little, but I am not using it on the same scope at the moment which could explain the difference.
Right at the moment it is mounted on my air rifle.
It's great on foxes, but for some reason when you sight onto a bunny when they are head on, their eyes light up like driving into a pair of roo lights.
I usually wait til they turn side on, then squeeze.

You wish,,,,,,,,
I know where a couple of "old" dingoes are sighted fairly often,,,,
But its difficult to take the shot when there is a boat in the back ground.
