Probably just that people are busy. Im working again plus working on the house so no time to get out. But out in a few weeks with luck. People come and go on forums. Also a few went to another new forum a while back.

Would love to be able to post some. Still waiting on the PTA for my first rifle, and I'll need some range time, but the foxes are there when I'm ready.

We've had to put the guinea fowl in with the chooks at night as some were too stupid to fly up to roost. Might not have been foxes that took them, but they are definitely about...

A careless girl from last night. Found within 5 minutes of going out for a look. Approx 90 metres, hit with a 85gr hollow point.

G'day all,

I'm new to foxing and have only shot a couple including the dog in the coloured picture. I had spotted him with my trail camera making regular trips up an unmade Crown Road on my southern boundary. I fed him cheap tinned dog food for a couple of weeks to get him well into my paddock and where I could legally and safely - there is a house 300 yards to the SW - shoot him. He's been coming to the right spot for a few days now, but his routine was somewhat irregular and he could come at 7:30 or 11:30 so it was only last night I could take a shot at 73 yards at about 7:00 PM - actually I didn't expect him that early. Rifle used was an Anschuetz 1532 [double triggers] in .222 Rem. with a Photon XT 6.5x50L sight with a Pulsar X850 IR torch attached.

There's an interesting part of this story: one night at about 8:15 I went out to sit on another bait station [actually the head of a steer we just killed for the freezer] in another paddock, only to find this blighter had come early, but was not yet near where I needed him to be for a safe shot. Instead of taking the risk of disturbing him I set up at the gate to the paddock sitting on a low plastic seat and watched him through the night scope while practising sighting and dry firing with a snap cap in the rifle. As I watched him I saw the IR flash of the trail camera go off a number of times as he walked in front of the camera. In the end he walked off without offering me a safe shot and I quit for the night. When I looked at the pictures taken by the trail camera I realised it had recorded the IR illumination of the inbuilt light on the scope - it's the little circle of light - as well as the glaring light of the Pulsar IR torch. I was trying out sighting with the inbuilt illuminator as well as the add-on one.

I understand that some shooters believe foxes cannot see IR light and some believe they can. I'm in no position to judge, but my fox clearly did not give a damn about the IR light.

G'day all,

I got this vixen at a bait station down a paddock behind the house at 7:46 PM on September 5; I have two bait sites running about 250 yards apart. She was fairly regular in her time-keeping and didn't notice me come out the gate about 85 yards away to set up on a large log I have set there as a seat - I'm better shooting off a rest from sitting and often wait there quietly for customers. A .222 Rem out of my Weihrauch 66 with an ATN X sight II 3-14 did the job. A couple of hours later another couple of customers turned up at each bait sight - I have two trail cameras running. There are quite a few around, but I'm getting a little old to be chasing around really late at night. I like my bed on cold winter nights.

you've been busy there AJB, nice one.

Hey Stix, that camo stock works a treat... the way that photo loaded, I was scrolling down from the muzzle and thinking "how bloody long is that barrel" and got to the scope before I saw the stock blending in nicely with the load of firewood behind it. Might be time to go to Specsavers.

Lol...
Yes...
On 2 seperate occasions ive not been able to quickly locate rifle after a sit down rest on a walk-about hunt...
Just casually put rifle down resting up against random tree/shrub...
Take pack off & sit 'over there' on that log/rock...
Open pack for snack n drink...
10 mins...
Get up & pack on then 2 of us take a good minute or two to find my rifle after we've both walked past & looked straight at it twice...lol...

Its amazing how well the camo works when its not attached to a constantly moving human...

Its also happened once at night when casually layed it down along a fence dividing couple of stubble paddocks...
Got back in the car & go to check chamber/mag topped up & got no rifle...
That wasted 15 mins thinking left it out where the fox fell for the mandatory photo shoot...

The riffle is a savage 204 predator it came with camo colour and yes stix it was a fluffy cat I was out on 2000 acres and spotted it at a dam I shot fox first then it popped it's head up so bang and I did skin cat there is no houses for miles so I think it was feral it shouldn't be on property so i took care of it
