Gun store facing suspension

Gun store facing suspension

Post by Bugman » 07 Sep 2024, 4:34 pm

I rang one of the stores I use now and again and was told by an employee that as of Tuesday next week, the store will have its
permit suspended and will not be allowed to trade in selling/buying firearms, reloading components, ammunition etc, until further notice. NSW FAR has put this decree in place and I don't know why.
I would hope that is not the type of "cancer" that has spread from WA.
I guess we have to wait and see.

Don't worry it is not what you think but they are going so you can expect prices in the industry to increase because of it .

Poop. My mate works there and always gave good prices. I'll text him now to find out.

In all my dealings over the years with Magnum, I never had a problem. The store was always a bit chaotic, but always had good prices,
as you have said.

So their dealer licence is being taken away? Wonder what they did. Can't be that serious because it's not immediate and the stock is not being taken away.

Some sort of erroneous paper trail or storage violation perhaps.

Found out a bit more information. It could well appear that the owner has been let down by one if his, now, ex employees. No further comment at this stage.

I don't think that is restricted(needing a licence) in NSW so you should be fine.

Terrible! The ex employee should be jailed not the store owner/dealer.

I am assuming he was selling things off the books.

Inclined to agree. The "facts" should be all over the news by Tuesday. :sarcasm:

If that's the case,, wouldn't regular audits pick it up?

Maybe thats how he got caught? In an audit. Or when people surrender a firearm he could of been “moving it out the back door”. Or perhaps he was selling 9mm ammunition and glock mags to bikies without a licence. One of the bikies was caught and told the police the intel?

Also he might of been associating with known undesirables? Criminal gangs etc.

I am just speculating mate but it must be something along these lines.

"Maybe thats how he got caught? "

Could well be. Don't know how they operate. But think it would make sense to conduct regular audits on anything that requires the business to have a licence to sell. e.g. firearms, ammo, powder, primers etc.

Apparently as of Tuesday the 10th, Magnum will not be permitted to sell, firearms, parts, ammunition, reloading components etc.
But they may be allowed to continue trading selling things like scopes, bags and sundry items. Not sure of this. It is a bit like the situation with Oz Gun Mart, who is awaiting their dealers licence to trade in firearms etc, but still sell sundry items, in the meantime.
For myself, I sincerely hope Andrew at Magnum gets this mess sorted out as I like dealing with them. Fingers crossed, I guess.

What happened to Oz Gun Mart.

They had their license when I bought some primers last year.

I thought I must have clicked on FarceBook when I read the bikie speculation but it must have been along those lines lol.

Folks, I'm going to lock this one up here.

We don't want to be making assertions or commentary here on what some one/business has allegedly done illegally when the facts are as yet unknown.

If more information is confirmed in due course, a new topic can be discussed then, but for now I will close up the rumour mill.
