As I have said elsewhere that is the lesson the firearms lobby learned in the USA. The only reason we have what we have and all the pro firearms capabilities with have is because so many of us keep protesting, kept emailing and calling politicians, kept drafting pro firearms legislation, kept finding pro gun candidates, kept taking cases to the higher courts and so on. You just can't let up at all.

In the USA certain Rights are integral to the existence of the USA even though they may be at times undermined or abused.
But let's face it, as I have pointed out many times in the past, in NSW and likely all the other states a person does not have any rights. That person may be granted privileges according to laws passed by that states subsidiary to the Crown.
So any privilege (or pseudo right) can be nullified at the stroke of a pen.
For example, consider how lightning fast these firearm laws were rammed through Parliament.

This honestly rattled me. NSW passed the damn law yesterday, just like that. This has completely ruined my Christmas.

Let’s be real: the gun community in NSW does not have the strong lobbying power, and the government knows it. That’s exactly why we’re the easiest target when politicians want to look “decisive”.

So serious questions:

As licence holders, what can we actually do now?

How do we support each other when many people are feeling angry, stressed, and financially shafted?

How do we protect our interests on what’s still coming — especially the proposed buyback and further changes?

How can we coordinate with licence holders in other states so this doesn’t keep happening one state at a time?

And bluntly: how do we hold the Minns Labor government politically accountable in ways that actually matter?

Note too that after paying compensation, the firearms will be "safely destroyed". If they're contemplating paying upwards of $10,000 per firearm, would it have crossed the minds of the numpties who dreamt this scheme to sell those valuable items to an international buyer and thus recoup some of the cost? Many years ago, a similar scenario took place in NZ.
No8 and No9 military training rifles were removed from (civilian) school cadet armouries and it was proposed that they be destroyed. After a massive outcry and backlash from the general populace, they were sold at public auction which netted a significant windfall for the general exchequer.
Similarly, NZ Police chose to re-equip themselves with a "better suited" rifle for their "armed offenders squads", which meant that there was an abundance of Sako 222Rem L461 and A1 rifles sold to the civilian market. To this day, those rifles fetch an extraordinary price whilst still in circulation "on the streets"
Maybe our neighbours got some things right?

Premier Chris Minns labelled the two-part program “a big undertaking” but said he’s focused on delivering his promise to take the dangerous weapons off the streets.
“The next step is getting the guns that are no longer permitted under those laws out of circulation and permanently off our streets.

Compensation for firearms
The first phase of the buyback, beginning on November 2, will offer fixed compensation rates for individual licence holders who possess more firearms than permitted.
Compensation will range from $450 for an air rifle to $1,000 for a handgun or centrefire rifle – and a flat payment for associated ammunition.

Hugely generous payments will be offered to the potential criminals that now hold these excess firearms:

Eligible businesses and dealers impacted by the buybacks can apply for grants up to $25,000, and gun dealers will receive one-off licence fee relief worth $500.

The gun buyback’s second phase, scheduled to begin in early 2027, will provide a pathway for eligible higher-value firearms with an indicative market value above $3,000.
Compensation will be capped at $10,000 per firearm, with further details to be announced at a later date.

The Albanese government will contribute 50 per cent of administration costs and fully fund the destruction of surrendered firearms.

Albanese and Minns are celebrating their march towards communism and enslaving the people by spending extensive steam-bath sessions together whilst flagellating about how powerful their police forces make them.

When I first seen "Sleasy Minns" I thought, who is this latest leader?
People were saying he will be different, but this "honest Chris" act had me futher looking further.
The good guy act is exactly that, and all that has come out, from when Borsak tried to get the conservation hunting legislation through, was that Minns had no idea about anything until told.

He has now shown his true colours, and still came out shining, compared to Elbo.
