Taking a rifle action to Mister Minit for engraving

Post by crys » 06 Feb 2014, 10:08 am

G'day guys.

This is probably not kosher but if you don't ask...

If I took the action out of a stock so it couldn't be operated and stood there with the guy, could I take the action to Mister Minit or one of the other shopping centre engraving guys to get something engraved on the action?

Obviously I couldn't leave it with the guy, but can I supervise while he does his work?

I don't think so. Are we talking taking the barrel off as well? Even so I think the action still counts as a firearm. Besides all that I wouldn't take it to mister minit even if it is legal. Get a qualified gunsmith to work on it and you'll be safe.

You'd have to find one with a firearms license I'm pretty sure.

If no license, they're not allowed to handle it outside of a range, regardless of supervision.

Speak to your local gun store, they'll probably know a smith who does engraving.
