Hi guys,

Can someone tell me how many hectares must a property owner possess to grant you permission to enter and shoot on that property?

Thanks

Just has to be zoned rural I think, and safe to shoot on.

Interesting .. looked for a definition of rural:
property in excess of 2.5 hectares (whether it be solely residential or farmland) is considered rural.

That wasn’t from a definitive source .. just first search result entry in a google search :unknown:

I was just curious how much land before you can use it as part of a Rec Hunter genuine reason
1. A current member of an approved club, or
2. The owner/occupier of rural land, or
3. A person who has permission to shoot from an owner/occupier of rural land, or
4. A person who has permission to shoot from a prescribed government agency, including the Department of Primary Industries.

My dad got his license for vermin control, his property is about half to 3/4 acre in a Sydney suburb.
He just wanted an air rifle for the minor birds.
Police interviewed him and accepted his genuine reason.
This was about 10 years ago.
