Oh, that is slow. Over 4 weeks.

I just checked online and mine is showing as being processed. My lgs said he had a visit last week and was advised they should be able to trade as essential service. 1 week ago at this present time may as well be one year though so who knows!

many of the other states have made them close it's only a matter of time before nsw could follow suit. I know my lgs is running low on most rifle ammo due.to panic buyers

Massive increase in people applying for PTAs however it shows no increase in waiting time

Would be interesting to see if they are rejecting any based on ranges being shut

Have you got the data for PTA applications for the last few years? A comparison would be nice.

So with the PTA, Jan had more last year. Feb is the same and March this year is only about 500 more? Things always move a few percent either way in retail but that looks like consistency to me. 500 more PTA over maybe 200000 firearm owners in NSW is not even a third of 1 percent.

Man I do like those graphs. QLD has nothing like it. I guess cause you blokes down there have like 3 million more tax payers than we do you can have more resources. :sarcasm:

Definitely seems to be a little bit longer at the moment. I put in for some longarm applications (Just A&B), which I already own, on the 11th and I am still yet to hear anything about them, but I might've annoyed them by putting in 4 at once hahahaha.

So given I applied for my first PTA on 31st May and being subject to 28 day waiting period.

Does anyone know if this mean the FAR will issue it on the 28th day (approve), or is it a case they let 28 days pass, then they start considering it?

If its anything like QLD they will approve it beforehand but you have to wait the full 28 day period before they release it. So it is approved but not released pending the waiting period.

Will let you know soon. My 28 days PTA cooling off period expires today. Application date 13th May. I have heard it takes them a few days to approve it and then the usual postage delay.

Applied for two Cat H PTAs on 31 May, still being processed by FAR. FFS.

I applied for my first pta on my PPL on the 11th June. Couldn’t do it on the 10th, damn their 6 months. 6 months after 10th December is 10th June, not the 11th.

Hey Devilcv8,

Is it 6 months (and one day) after the PPL application date or issue date?

Regards..

I tried applying on the 10th June as my PPL was issued on the 10th December and the website wouldn’t allow me to apply. Tried again on the 11th and it worked.

Mailman dropped mine off today. Unfortunately I have to go for a drive to Sydney as my local gun shop don’t sell handguns.
Lucky I’m working from home, safe to be installed then Saturday off to visit a couple of shops in Sydney

On that note, fun fact, the NSW Services website server time zone is based somewhere in Europe (Or potentially US), but definitely not Australia. I know as I have done the exact same as you did and had to wait one extra day until it worked. If you pay attention to the receipt / confirmation email you get, the date stipulated is always -1 day.
