Petition thread

Post by Baronvonrort » 09 Mar 2014, 4:51 pm

There are a few petitions around, i think all law abiding firearm owners should sign them if they agree with them, pass them onto others including friends and clubs.
These petitions may or may not be effective,at least we are having a say on some issues that affect law abiding firearm owners.

Here is one one reforming some laws-

Here is a anti vilification petition which mentions the Greens

Here is an excellent study done on sound moderators by Edith Cowan university, it is worth reading.

As much as i hate politics we have to stand up to the anti gun bigots, they have buzzwords and one liners and when you look at it they have very little if any substance and can easily be exposed.

If the Greens oppose hunting in National parks does their policy result in feral pests becoming a protected species in National parks?

Trapping and poisoning do not discriminate in which species they kill, the animals die a slow and horrible death with these methods, do the Greens promote animal cruelty with trapping and poisoning compared to shooting, can anyone find a vet that will say trapping and poisoning is a more humane way of killing feral pests or do all vets say shooting is a more humane way of dealing with feral pests?
Are the Greens policies inhumane?

I never use the word hunting in relation to shooting unless it is to point out only Aborigines can hunt native species, i use the term Feral pest eradication to describe what we do.

The average Joe believes hunting is a blood sport, they are concerned about Feral pests so we have to call what we do Feral pest eradication instead of hunting to change public opinions.

If we focus on the feral pest side of things it is difficult to argue against.

When ignorant people accuse hunters of being cruel and inhumane i point out the alternatives promote animal cruelty and are far more inhumane than shooting, i accuse the Greens of being despicable cretins who promote animal cruelty with their anti gun bigotry, the truth tends to upset them.

1080 does not discriminate in which species it kills, it takes up to 4 days for animals to die after eating 1080, they die a slow horrible death, every vet i have asked says shooting is far more humane than using 1080.
The use of 1080 is widespread in Australia, it should be banned IMO,i think we should rub the anti gun bigots noses in their stupidity that promotes animal cruelty.

Petition here to ban 1080, pass it on and let everyone know how the use of this is despicable and promotes animal cruelty, every Green supporter i have spoken to thinks 1080 should be banned.

Always the way.

I make the effort to put my name to all the ones I think are worthwhile.

For the hundreds of thousands(?) of license holders we have in Aus, sad to see we usually only get a few hundred signatures on them.

There are a couple reasons why people don't support petitions I believe, one is that they are afraid it will somehow come back to bite them and result in a loss of license, the other is that most people know that a petition is the "easy" way to lobby the decision makers. Of course there is also the apathy issue. Having spent time in professional journalism, I can tell you that most pollies dismiss petitions out of hand. That didn't stop me from signing, however I do know that personally written letters (emails) if organised and in great enough numbers will have more effect than any number of petitions. Perhaps a draft letter should be placed on the website as example for those not gifted in letter writing.
