An interesting article about how shooters get into strife.

Just saw this and it strikes me as a particularly relevant article for a few people I know. Not so much the obvious stuff like storage and transport, but defintiely the stuff lower down the list.

Cheers mate, well received!

The easiest way to lose your gun licence is dementia. For example applying for a B709A form and then you lose the licence. Apply for a new licence. Get asked to re- apply for the B709A form because something was missing, lifting up the lid of the print/scanner only to find your old licence had been sitting there for 3 weeks.

Bummer dude.

That’s the best thing I have ever read on a shooting forum!
Thankyou for posting.
It should not be imbedded in a thread, it should be in our faces every time we all visit this forum.

I've been through #3 on that list.
Faulse claims made against me, it meant I had to spend a small fortune to fight it in court. Luckily for me the claims (all 60 odd of them) were easily proven faulse.
Unfortunately many people just can't afford to defend themselves against false claims of DV

Staying under the radar is a good one. I used to love drinking heaps of piss and playing up but gave it up when I got my licence. It’s been over 3 years dry and now I’m not missing it at all.

Scary stuff that “we are uncomfortable to report threats of violence because of action Police shall- certainly under NSW Policy- take against us”.

I’m not sure if it’s just an internet myth, though will perpetuate it here anyway :-) that there was something of a domestic incident happening on a gun owners nature strip/footpath in NSW after a neighbourhood party spilled out. Gun owner lost his licence because the address of the report was his - even though he nothing to do with the party or knew those involved.

I’m crossing NSW off my list of places I would move to.
