Level 9 Storage Questions (Collector Storage)

Post by BigKev74 » 03 Jan 2021, 3:40 pm

Hey guys,

Just dropping in to ask a question or two since the answers seem to be left really vague by both the registry PDFs and legislation.

Heres the PDF in question: https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/__data/as ... _Sheet.pdf

Inside that PDF it states that
The area or room where the firearms are stored must be part of a permanent building with secure locks on all
entrances.

So the firearms must be stored in safes, within a safe room. That makes sense.
One of the requirements of the room is that:
The area or room must have solid walls that provide a substantial barrier to forced entry.

Does anyone know what would be defined as a solid wall? I am going to assume gyprock/drywall probably isnt sufficient, but what about ply etc?

Unfortunately this was discussed recently here and the laws are purposely vague and confusing so if they think you are doing the wrong thing they can interpret the laws to get you. What is a lock of sturdy construction? One person's definition will be different to another person's.
