I received these sms's last night.

If you know more about the reasons for these petitions please comment.

It seems to confirm my belief that the Lib/Nats are owned by the same group as Green/Laber but just are a little slower in implementing their marching orders.

I've read the proposed changes but can't remember detail specifically. But it is basically trying to change the definition of cruelty to something not in the animals best interest, and make things much more onerous. I think it also included things like not forcing an animal to do something it doesn't want to do, but I could be mistaken on that.

Overall it looks to affect anyone who has dealings with animals, so vets, pet owners, farmers, hunters, fishos, people who own chickens for eggs etc. Looks like a fairly slippery slope. It makes me worried for even things like removing pests, so could have environmental impacts.

Lib/Nats _are_ Green/Labor, no difference.
