The top compartment of my safe is good for 2,000 - 3,000 rounds of 9mm with a hippo in there to keep the humidity down.

I bought a pair of lockable steel double-door cabinets from Bunnings for my centrefire ammo, and built a lockable double-door cabinet out of 19mm Yellow-Tongue flooring for my rimfire ammo.

Bulk or spare ammo is stored in a stack of MTM ammo crates and cans, all double-padlocked with a matching key.
