Tactical vests

Post by Point223 » 19 Nov 2014, 2:04 pm

Are Tactical vests (Non protective - not bullet proof i know these are illegal) legal in NSW?

You know the cool ones with lots of pockets for magazines etc...

This tactical vest looks pretty good. Excellent cooling capability, stealthy and easy on the eye.

Of course they are, plenty of legitimate reasons own one especially with GPS and other small bits of kit you might want to carry in easily accessible pouches as well as ammo, they do get hot though so something to keep in mind.

It's just a vest.

Could just easily be for hiking, fishing, camping...

It's not illegal to be tacticool... Yet

Looks like she might be firing an UZI? Hard to tell.

To stop someone going up and over firing a full-automatic I guess.

Don't know about NSW but certainly legal in QLD. My cousin wears a chest rig to hold gps camel back and spare mags seems to work pretty well as it was designed for that but I can't see why blokes wear them at the range.

NSW Schedule 1 Prohibited Weapons - Clause 4(1)

"Body armour vests (or other similar article) designed for anti-ballistic purposes or similar purposes (such as protection against electroshock or conducted energy devices) and to be worn on (or to cover) any part of the body, but not including helmets or anti-ballistic articles used to protect the eyes or ears."

As I would read it, an empty jacket doesn't have anti-ballistic properties so I don't think it would be regulated. However any kevlar or plating designed for the jacket would be.

If someone says your regular vest has anti-ballistic purposes... Challenge them to put it on and spin a pistol around.

See how many accept

Apparently..... I looked again an spotted a gun, even a box and chain discussed.

Initially I only noticed an ass out stance and aboriginal rock paintings...
