Well my PTA was approved via email tonight.... 57 days for that. Now probably another two weeks waiting for the paper...

My Cat H PTA that was submitted on 8/7/22 was approved today. I called WLB this morning along with a call and email to my government member so not sure if either of these had any influence.

Good to know they are at least working now, was worried nobody was getting them.
I submitted mine on the same date but will give them another 2 weeks before I start hassling them.

Was that your first cat H? I also had the H cooling off period but surely thats complete before they look at it.

Just got a Cat B lever shotgun PTA approved, it was submitted just over 7 weeks ago.
A similar PTA about 6 months ago was approved in less than 24 hours.

Hi all, just joined to let you know, I got my PTA approval letter after a 7 week wait at 1pm Saturday and cleavers got over 400 approvals around the same time. If you have something waiting at Cleavers give em a couple days or so.

Local gun shop said they had 37 PTA's clear on monday.

Edit: my PTA just cleared after just under 5 weeks.

The guy on the phone was very apologetic that it was taking so long and said they have hired a lot more staff now so wait times should free up soon! Great news!

They are on 7 day work weeks right now. Two shifts a day, so roughly 15 hours a day 7 days a week until the backlog is cleared.

28 days for a cat B, expected it to be longer. Came through at 5pm on a Saturday arvo.

Five weeks from application to arrival in my mail box for a Cat H collector PTA. All my previous PTAs for collector stuff have taken around three months so I was shocked when it arrived so quickly.

Has anyone had a PTA approved in QLD recently?

I applied for a Cat A (22LR bolt action) two weeks ago and no response since the application reference number email so far.
I've also heard that the storage safe for firearms awaiting PTAs is near full capacity at Cleavers as the backlog has blown out again.

2 weeks is a bit early to be stressing. Having said that my cat H arrived in 2 weeks and 5 days which I was surprised at.
A mate put a cat H PTA in weeks before mine and he still hasn't had it approved so it's all a bit weird.

I've submitted 6 previous Cat A PTAs over the last 3 years, approval times have varied from 12 hours to a maximum of 3 days.
I'm now up to day 18 for this PTA.

Spoke to the dealer today, they said that the WLB processing slowdown is as bad as they've seen it, as an example, they only got 2 PTA approvals come through yesterday and the usual number is around 30 per day.

Apparently a lot of people buy guns at Christmas and that bogs down WL, hopefully they will catch up again soon.
I put in a pta for a second 44 revolver on 19/1/23, expecting it to take about 5 weeks for approval, so I’ll update when I get the email approval, hopefully not too far away.

Cat A PTA email finally came through after 21 days
Now I just have to wait for the dealer to get their email with the official PTA, hopefully that is still just a day or so.
