.510 DTC Europe

Post by MrFishimus » 06 May 2017, 10:41 am

So I'm in the Nanny state of QLD where specifically the .50BMG is illegal. Do you reckon I could float a .510 DTC past customs?

Whats the reason behind .50BMG being illegal in QLD?

There's never any reason to ban anything in this country. :lol:

Yes, but oftern they try justify it. For example if they said cause of the 50bmg's military use then they can't use that against .510 DTC aless a military uses somewhere.

Just get Pedersoli built Remington rolling block or Sharps in the .50 family. You can get them from .50-70 or 90 or 110 or 120 to the mightiest .50-140 torpedo. You'd certainly have something unusual!
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Is the 50 actually banned in QLD?? or is it a 'policy' (that is not technically 'law')........ I had a squiz in the Firearms... sorry, 'weapons' Act and Regs and couldnt find anything, maybe i need to take a girls look....

I note the feds TRIED to ban importation a few yrs ago, and it was 50 BMG AND DERIVATIVES..... of which the 510DTC like sever others, would fall under.

There it is, I didnt check the THIRD document, the Weapons categories Regs;

a firearm capable of firing 50 calibre BMG cartridge ammunition;

From that, the DTC is QLD legal....as it mentions the BMG specifically :thumbsup:

only 50bmg is cat R in QLD. You can have a 51bmg or higher(if it existed) as only 50bmg is mentioned specifically by name.

Boys Rifle will chamber and fire 50 BMG, they won't let you have one. Accuracy is non-existent with the smaller bullet, but it will fire. (We use 50 BMG cases to load for our Boys, just necked up to .565) Recently had some Qld'ers here in Vic and gave some a shot of the Boys to take the memory home.
