Owning books on gunmaking

Hi Everyone, I'm Cameron from QLD.

Does anyone know if we are allowed to buy/own books on making guns?
As opposed to fixing guns.
I am intereteed in the process and mechanics of it.

You're effectively just asking for a book about machining.

The design and mechanics of firearms are well documented and readily available. No national secrets here.

For safe operation and maintenance as much as anything. It's not a crime to know how something works safely.

If you had a Bridgeport mill and a lathe in the garage along with the book, the fuzz might have questions for you though :lol:

There was talk some years ago about 'registering' lathes and mills as 'precursors' ....... but they saw the light hopefully.

It's like saying a hacksaw is a precursor to shortening a shotgun.
My stance on gun control depends on firearm, caliber, wind, and obstacles.

You might have to register your knee as a precursor too, just in case you have any plans to snap a timber stock over it and further shorten it for all your gangster activities :lol:

No its not. Also knowing how to make cocaine, heroine, synthetic testosterone etc etc is not a crime either.

Having the know how and having the apparatus to produce the product are two seperate things.

Fair question given we do gave books that are banned in Australia.

Pretty sad we need to worry about stuff like that.
