I was quite peeved last permit, I put it in at about 10am, and I couldnt leave the dealer with my new rifle until early afternoon..
oooooh QLD... sorry :D

Seriously though, the minutes/hours turn around in Vic permits just proves the next step it to phase out the PTA 'system', we just need to get vocal, if the vocal minority get environmental/diversity/cultural whatever changes..... why cant shooters??

Remember, we've had permits to acquire longarms for only the last 18 years..

The first PTA you apply for will always take longer than normal. After you have I believe three firearms they tend to speed up. I always pay by cheque so I have a record of when they received the application. As one time they lost several handgun (cat H) yet had cashed the cheque. It was fixed so fast that I had the PTA's with the same date that I collected the handguns. I would make a very polite inquiry as to what is the delay with the one lodged in August.

Made an enquiry this morning, it was ready to go however weapons licensing hadn't informed the PTA boys that I'd received my license. All sorted now though, should be in the post Wednesday.

U should have asked them to fax it directly to the dealer so you haven't got to wait for it in the post...I got my first PTA a week after my license arrived only because I submitted them at the same time pretty much

The Lithgow Crossover I ordered isn't in stock yet so I didn't worry about getting them to fax it. I mostly called up in case something had gone wrong, which it had. All sorted now though

figured out whats happened although iv already got 2 fire arms and had 1 of them for about 2 months now neither of which are on my license yet so i yet get to wait another 28 days because either the gun shop haven't submitted their paper work or weapons licensing are just plain useless

That's 6 months from application submitted. I was transfering in from out of state. I hold an ACT licence and previously had a QLD licence too. I have 11 pistols and 9 long arms. Still too over 6 months. Still haven't got my high cal sorted. :?

I know the process, I've been through it a few times and and used to waiting, it just seems like the waiting times for licences are excessive.

No complaints on the pta tho.

i put in for my first PTA and received it after I got my licence. It took nearly 6 months for that to happen and I purchased my rifle in mid November. I recently put in for another PTA ( roughly a month after my purchase) and was told that it had been placed on the 28 day waiting list. They have not as yet placed the details of my first rifle onto my licence so have treated my second PTA as a first time application. Weapons Licensing are way behind and are making it difficult. I have no idea how long I will have to wait for them to get their act together and get up to date. I wasn't happy when I contacted Weapons Licensing and was told this. So, I have to wait the 28 days , then wait till it's processed and sent out to me. Something needs to be done to improve the process.

Sorry to hear that.

Perhaps you and 1290 (See QLD is the coolest state) could do a house swap.

I don't know of others experience, but my last 4 PTAs (dealers done online) 2 days, next day, same day and next day (23/12) so I can't complain. :D
There's always room for at least one more gun in my safe.

Indeed, Victoria has it pretty good as far as permits go.

All of mine have been same or next day at the latest.

There is a petition going at the moment about scraping them here in QLD.

Hopefully that gets a foothold is all I can say.

I'm in SA so not your queue, but I did read here I think that QLD Pol have put on extra staff for a while to get through the backlog.

So the 5 days could be legit.
