Is this a good thing? I think it is.

Yep, definitely a good thing and brilliant work on behalf of the kindergarten. I'm sure the Anti's will be up in arms, ignorance generally results in noise from them.

It's an excellent idea, the sooner you can teach kids about safety and responsibility the better. But society being what it is today, no doubt there will be the usual hand wringing and outrage from the misinformed.
If we really want to ban something it should be people putting dogs in any sort of outfit or costume.

This makes sense to me. I would only suggest that they cone up with a "gun training" class for those who want to borrow guns. You know that the NRA has its Eddie Eagle gun safety classes that are aimed at teaching gun safety for all ages.
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."

Seems like a good idea on the surface, then when you think about it kids should be allowed to be kids. How many people on this forum where allowed to play cowboys and indians, or cops and robbers as kids? How many of you enjoyed british bulldogs? I know I did, and I'm sure members who got play those games turned out to be responsible gun owners.

This idea wreaks of nanny state mind set. I'm all for gun safety but what the kinder is doing is putting kids into an adult context. Totally wrong.

I think what they are doing is a good thing, never to young to learn safety and responsibility in my mind. Yes kids should still be allowed to be kids, but it doesn't seem unreasonable to teach the differences of toy vs real to me. For me at that age it was with real firearms under controlled conditions and I was made aware of the difference of a toy, I think it was a good thing as the lessons learned remain deeply seated into my subconscious mind. So much so its like an automatic awareness. With a real firearm I always told to think of a laser beam coming out of the barrel and any thing it touches is in danger (not so for a toy). It remains an intrusive thought, whenever I have a firearm in my hands.

Just the way I learned..

“Accidental Discharges” DO NOT OCCUR !!

An "Unintended Discharge" is nothing more than the lack of appropriate safety procedures or the failure to follow them..!

I love my country, but fear my government.
