Between aviation, and having a family member in the Air Force….you would be surprised how much checking of character and security many people go through.

Family member in the AF huh.

They worried someone is going to take the family for a joy-ride in a fighter jet? :D

I work as a security guard the same checks have to be done to hold a security licence apply to getting a weapons licence. They also have my fingerprints also due to holding a security licence. The last time that i called them i got the same old excuse it will be done when its done. And ps last time i got a talking to by a cop was 11 years ago for rolling through a stop sign and as you would know that isnt a reason to reject it.

were you a member of a shooting club before you applied?
Did you get an email back shortly after with a case number and receipt?

No logic to your case my friend…none. My wives licence took longer than mine, we guessed it may have been a Births Deaths and Marriages check taking some time. Our Cat H's turned up the same day.

Random stuff.

Hi guys
I have had my license for a number of years now and recently submitted a PTA on Friday and got a email back on Monday saying it had been approved and just had to wait the 10 business days for it to be posted out !! I think if your new to getting your license the wait time is quite a bit longer than that for license approval and then the 28 days to purchase your first after that comes through

Hi, Applied for A-B license on 11/12/15 online and heard nothing back so far, just wondering if they always send you to the local police station for the 100 point ID check as I see some people have done that within the first week but still nothing here in 5 weeks now.

So I wonder why there appears to be a big variation in processing times with some getting it all done in 4 weeks and others taking many months, I have already put in 2 PTAs as well so if it were to take as long as yours they would expire, I will give it two more weeks then start to ring them politely, if after another 2 weeks I still have no progress I will call them every other day along with continuous calls to my local and state member to update them on the problem I am having and I will NOT stand for nor tolerate such a ridiculous waiting period beyond what is mandatory in law, and no one else should also, if enough people get onto there state member about that sort of problem it may spark someone to do something about the serious understaffed problem they appear to have, and after that rant hopefully I get mine soon

Its just thier inderect way of putting people off. I was told that my original storage adress was "not suitable" and had to provide another. Weapons are already stored for the same class at the provided adress. ( house mates ) Went in for the police id check on the 20th. The police officer i spoke to the night before at the station refused to submit the id paper work. The next day i was served by the same person. I honestly believe that they want to screw you over in any way, shape they see fit purley on the grounds to put you off. At this rate my licence application looks like it will come close to being 8 months from application to receiving my licence. s**ts and giggles

Just wondering if previous offences, criminal or driving may play a part in it. ?? also xmas holidays as WLB personnel may be on leave slowing down the process ?
put pta in on sat via online, got email saying it was received, and 1:30 Thursday I rang, was polite, and she was nice. at 2pm it was approved via email, and wait for postage..

Yes they do. In all states you're required to declare any criminal convictions (and if I remember right in some states even if you've been charged but not convicted of a crime) on your license application.

If the conviction was for anything related to violence, drugs, robbery etc. you'll get knocked back.

If you have a "minor" driving offence conviction or two recorded it won't stop you getting your license. Has been asked on here a few times before and the guys have gone on to get their license no problem.

If you had multiple convictions though at some point they'd judge you're not a "fit and proper person" because you continually demonstrate that you're an idiot prone to doing stupid s**t and they'd knock you back.

To anyone who recently got their qld license, how long ago did you lodge the application? I'm trying to get an idea how long the queue is.
