Posting a Rifle to Borrow

Post by kinno84 » 18 Dec 2021, 3:12 pm

Hi all,

First time poster here!

I want to borrow my fathers .223 Weatherby Stainless for a while to see if I like it and then most likely purchase it, he lives in QLD but miles away.

I'm aware I am allowed to borrow for up to 28 days and that I should have paperwork signed by both of us with our info and his permission etc.

My question is, Is he allowed to post it directly to me in registered post or do we still have to go through the gun dealer brokerage process even if I am only borrowing?

I'm having trouble finding the exact info I need in the act.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Incorrect, you can borrow for 3 months not 28 days(Weapons Act Section 36(3)(C)).

Yes as long as it stays inside Queensland you can send it via registered post.

I can't remember the section of the law(I will look it up when I'm home) but it states the package can not state theres a firearm inside. So no gun stickers or anything like that. Just name and address on a box that adheres to the The couriers regulations.
