Transfer question

Post by perentie » 12 Dec 2022, 2:08 pm

When selling a rifle, and the buyer gets a PTA with his dealer on it for Transfer. Can I just sell it to him and let him take it away and do the Transfer through his dealer in his home town?
This is for when he comes to my place and looks at it and buys all the ammo , cases, projectiles and chamber reamers etc as well. Be hard to do by post.
I am selling my late wifes F Class Target rifle with everything in the package except primers and powder, so its easier for buyer to collect than transfer through my dealer.

No, absolutely not!! The firearm is transferred via the dealer to the purchaser not from you. Read Qld Weapons Act 1990 v.71, S.35, Sub.1. para (b) transfers must occur through a dealer.

OK. Thanks for that.
Just posted the ad and its sold already to a bloke in NSW so it has to go through a dealer anyway.
