I was doing some rough numbers earlier. According to
http://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/region/queensland, each year there is an increase of licences by about 5000-7000. Lets call it 6000 new licences per year. That means ~500 applications per month or about 17 applications per day. So if they had 20-30 licence processors, they should easily be able to crunch all incoming applications, right? I doubt that a licence takes a full business day to approve!
PTAs are a different story, there is a lot of them coming through, but at the moment they seem to be taking a couple of days to approve and shouldn't require much actual work at all, as most don't even include a serial number of the firearm! Basically just caliber.
So I am confused, either my numbers are very wrong (possible, I have double and triple checked them though, I don't see anything out of the blue), or approving an application takes someone a full business day to do! Like said above, they have 'hundreds' of processors, so I am not really sure what is happening here. Thoughts?
