QLD weapons licencing waits

I put my application in 26/4 and haven't heard squat since. Put my pta's in 4 days later and haven't heard anything from them either. So im wearing out my thumbs from twiddling them.

Yep, might take up to 3 months re application and PTAs about 2 weeks + later...Should hear from Licencing Branch first to take your ID stuff to your local Police Station. In the meantime, make sure the safe storage meets all requirements, particularly firmly anchored (can't wobble when shaken)....

I just rang WLB to confirm they have received my information regarding my identity check completed last Friday 13th

Lady I spoke to was very pleasant and confirmed they had received all my details,

now the long wait begins

IM just a bit concerned that after three weeks i haven't even had a request for I.D. when it seems like that request comes within a day or two.

Ok so just got my first PTA approval!
Im aware of the 28 day mandatory waiting period however is this from when it is approved or or the date on which you applied?

You will receive your Licence Card, Licence Conditions and Weapons List in the mail after the mandatory waiting periods have been met as required by the Weapons Act 1990 and Weapons Regulation 1996 and after quality assurance checks have been undertaken."

"This email is to advise that your application for a Permit to Acquire for the above weapon will be approved on 15/06/2016. You will receive your Permit to Acquire after the mandatory waiting periods have been met as required by the Weapons Act 1990 and Weapons Regulation 1996 and after quality assurance checks have been undertaken."

So by guessing I'll have both in my mailbox by end of June or early July if Aus post do their job right?

I believe with PTA's it's from the date they receive your application , I didn't know they notified you via email about approvals , I've had two friends in the past six months get licensed and both got no word till it showed up in the mail .

It's from the application date.

If you don't want to wait for el Posto then call them before it's issued and ask them to fax it to the dealer. Mucho quicko compared to snail mail.

Odd that they are approved the same date when both were done five days apart.

6 months and still waiting I put a+b in at same time as a security firearm app in November.
Rang the other day to find out wth is going on and got told can take time. Put my H in back in Feb and they approved my H in 2 days. I Told her that and I already own on that license so there is nothing restricting me. Security lic was approved after ringing them after 4 months.
Starting to just wish for my money back and will stick to pistol comps

Yep, sounds about right.

After you take your I.D. to the local P.S. just contact WLB after a week just to confirm that the paperwork has been received. If by some strange reason WLB does not receive the paperwork from your local P.S, WLB will consider that you do not wish to proceed further and your application may be cancelled.
You should have your licence in about 3 weeks and PTA a week later if all goes well.

My email for both approval of license and PTA said 15/6

Yup got my Email today sayin Licence is approved. In all 5 weeks 3 days from Application to Email advising of Approval. Not too bad really now i gots the 10 - 14 day wait for licence to come in the mail and the PTA to show up

Had approvals done in reverse I think as the hardest once I got 1st. My H class in 2 days approved. Security in 4 months. Odd they took longest on the A+B.

I think it's checking that the paper the application is printed on is of sufficient quality to last sitting on a coffee and donut splattered desk for 6 months

No not yet. But I applied at the same time as my licence. So hopefully they are only couple of weeks away

Called QWL this morning about PTA , they said that QWL had not informed them that my new licence had been issued and as such they could not complete the PTA , said she would re enter it and sent it via fax to the gun store to save time in the mail , should have it next week .
