I guess they improve in some instances and then are still painfully slow in others. Submitted mine online 14 weeks 5 days ago and still waiting. Haven't even had any queries from WLB (nor should it with a totally clean criminal record apart from 3 traffic fines for excess speed). When I contacted WLB last week they told me could be another 2-3weeks.

Did she send in a provocative photo with the application to speed it up or something? ;)

So that's the trick...

a fellow poster in another forum said it took him 7 weeks to get his new cat a/b licence (QLD) , applied on the 30/7/2014.

hmm....

we can only hope that they have managed to finally shift that gear stick into 2nd.

as for me i applied for a new weapons cat a/b licence on 27/08/2014 did my ID check a couple days later, hitting the 6 week mark right now.

18 weeks and still waiting. Nothing at the 12 week mark - after a follow up i got an id check notification a few days later. 3 weeks nothing - followed up (ignored). 4 weeks - another follow up - they actually responded this time. 1 week since last contact. Not holding my breath. Wouldn't surprise me if nothing happens for another few weeks, and when i contact them i'm ignored for another few weeks.

After a total of 16 weeks 5 days my QLD licence has finally arrived :)

Time frame was -
27/06/2014 - Application online. Immediate confirmation received
03/07/2014 - Request for ID check received
04/07/2014 - ID check completed at Police Station
22/10/2014 - Licence arrived in mail
There were not questions or queries from QLD weapons licencing during the process and neither should there have been given I have only ever received 3 speeding fines total.

In my experience I've nothing but positive things to say about processing times.. My license (a while back now) only took about 3 months and every PTA I've had to do (after the first one which was almost exactly 30 days) has been turned around in 6-7 days...
I'm pretty sure as long as you fill in the forms both online (massively faster) and accurately it'll be processed fairly quickly.. I read a stat somewhere that something like 70% of forms have a mistake on them.. Explains some waiting times I'd say... Do it online and accurately and you'll be right..

Good choice :)

Woo hoo! Guess what arrived in the post today! Bad timing with the g20 going on in Brisbane. It would be strange picking up a rifle today with all the security in the city lol
