"turn around" for Crim. Correspondence?

Post by TikkaT3.223 » 29 Aug 2014, 4:21 pm

Hey guys.

I got an email the other day saying that i needed to put in a criminal "please explain" correspondence, and I sent it off today (by email).

Does anyone know how long the turn around is for those types of things to be accepted/rejected?

if you were in WA I'd say several years, lol ... Shouldnt be to long, if it's all good, they just need it for their paperwork I'd say.

A week hopefully, or two at most I'd say.

I'd done my share of bitching about QWL in the past but they seem to be picking up the pace lately :)

Old mate hasn't been on for a few weeks now I don't think.

No updates to his various topics on getting his license.

I guess it was a no go for him.

I wouldn't write it off yet.

QLD weapons has been getting faster but it's still less than two weeks.

Who knows though.

Still too slow

Hey guys. Sorry, ive been busy.

No they still havent made a decision and its been 2 and a half weeks...

If they havent made a decision in that amount of time, then thats gotta be good, right..? They wouldnt make me wait for 15 weeks just to say no?

Yeah thats what they did to me. Thats why ive waited 15 weeks in total. ^^^^

Its been almost 3 weeks now that theyve HAD the returned 'please explain' note from me, and they recon theyre still waiting for the big boss to sign it off.

Thats my actual question. "How long does the signing off of the correspondence take??"

It can take ages mate. Months.

A mate of mine had his license suspended after some false accusations by a vindictive ex-wife. Even after his ex told the police she had made the stuff up it still took them months to decide to give his license back, even though they had no longer had any basis for maintaining the suspension.

It's a s**t situation but what can you do?

That really is a situation in need of plumbing, isnt it... :/

They keep telling me "we're just waiting for the administrating officer to sign off on the papers". Is that what they told your mate, too? :/

That was about the sum of it from what he told me.

It was always just waiting for someone to make a decision over one thing or the other.

They wouldn't tell him who this person was, he couldn't speak to them or leave a message for someone to call him back or anything.

No clear explanation of what exactly they were considering or why they hadn't yet returned it either. He has no convictions etc. that would cast doubt on his license being returned.

He just had to wait.

As another indicator of the speed of things, after he'd already had his license back for months and picked up his rifles again he got a letter in the mail informing him everything was wrapped up and his license would be returned.

So yeah...

Wow. Screw that man.

Yeah, I called up my local police station yesterday just to see what MIGHT be holding them up.

They told me that I had been to court for lots of charges before the age of 17, but had NEVER been convicted of anything...

Would this be the reasoning behind holding my license?

You just need to wait and see mate.

Depends on so many things, how they read them, I don't want to speculate on what you did or didn't do, blah blah blah...

I know that's not a satisfying answer I don't think you can do anything else.

If you're hassling the s**t out of them it's only going to make things worse for you, just a polite follow up call once a fortnight or something I guess?

Best with it.

Yeah thats exactly what they said to me man.

They sure as s**t DO like to take their time though. Mine will be 1 month waiting tomorrow. I spoke to a cop at my local cop shop and she said that she had heard from weapons licensing that morning that they are 2-3 weeks behind schedule, and this was yesterday, so it should be anytime now.

I just pray to God that I havent gone through all of this waiting for nothing.
