Ah well there is a couple of months back log. I should settle back down to the normal 1 or 2 days soon.

Have you rung Firearms to confirm they do actually have your PtA?

I have called my local gun store a couple times BladeRacer
They have confirmed to me that they have definitely sent in my PTA

It doesn't really surprise me that my PTA is taking that long to be approved though
OldBloke himself just got his PTA approved just yesterday
And we applied at roughly the same time so

I know other shooters as well who applied even before me, and they also haven't gotten their PTA's back yet :unknown:

Frustrating situation
That's for sure

The dealer sending it and Firearms receiving it are two different things. I sent them my paperwork for my licence renewal and they never received it via OzPost, so I emailed it to them...twice :-)

I agree. TheFirearmEnthusiast, send LRD a polite email to confirm that they have received your application. I sent them an email and they responded pretty quick and were very helpful.

Things are improving and they seem to have almost eliminated the backlog for those wondering.
7 day turnaround for a self lodged PTA recently (vic).

3 working days for a recent PTA lodged through my gun store. Looks like things have returned to normal

Hey guys

I submitted a PTA on Thursday
(02/07/2020)

How are the PTA wait times at the moment in Victoria?

Is everything back to normal now?

G'day TheFirearmEntusiast,
Yes & No! LRD won't answer the phones still, and email response has been slow and erratic. As for normal I sent 3 applications in an email on the 1st of June, got the handgun PTA a week later, refused the Cat B, wanted a letter of explanation why I needed another Cat B (it was for a flintlock rifle of which I only have 1, but all my bolt action/lever action etc are the same according to them), no mention of the Cat A I sent and a firearms list to check and send back, alas the firearms list didn't have about half of my guns on it so a few emails to get that sorted, then I finally established they had bloody LOST the Cat A application! Start again, the handgun PTA expires next week so I will probably have to send that back in for re-issue so Yes, they are back to their normal useless incompetent selves, Cheers.

Let's just hope that the industry doesn't shut down again with today's return to lockdown announcement

Slight update everyone;

I've called my Local Gun Store this morning

They told me that LRD was processing PTA's extremely quickly (within the day) up until Thursday last week

Apparently
From Thursday last week
LRD has had "software problems"
So they weren't able to process PTA's from Thursday last week

However though
Apparently
LRD has fixed their "software issues" on Tuesday this week
And so they should be able to resume processing PTA's very shortly
Lol

To be fair
I think that there is some truth to it..
Because other gun stores also have told me that they havent received any PTA's back since Thursday last week also
:unknown:

That's what my local gun store told me anyway ^
I thought I'd let youse know

Hi All,

Just wondering if my situation is normal or if I should be concerned.
I usually do my PTAs through my LGS but this time I emailed in a paper form with the details of two firearms.
I received in the mail approval for the second of the two a few days ago, about 9 or 10 working days since the email went in. However, I haven't heard anything about the first firearm on the PTA.

Is this odd? Do the LRD let you know if your PTA has been rejected?

G'day Nomis,
if your PTA is rejected they will send you a snail mail asking for more information as to why you need another of that Category, this usually only happens once you have reached 10 of that Category, either B or H. Cat A are, as yet, not restricted by quantity. LRD are inconsistent, with some applications done timely, some very slow, and some occasionally lost (they have lost 3 out of my last 12). If you don't get it after 20 days from application start emailing them daily, Cheers.
