New Vic license and PTA

Post by Old Holden » 10 May 2024, 8:30 pm

Hi All,
New to shooting and looking forward to be licensed and getting to the range to start with.

I've had a license application in for 5-6 weeks now and they're processing my date of submission now.

I've heard you can submit a PTA early, before having a license number but the only PTA forms i can find seem to need it. Is there a way to submit PTA with license pending or do i have to wait until i get the photo letter with a number?

Any advice appreciated.

This is my take on it.

It is a 28 day wait for the 1st firearm from the date of application.

Often some put it in same time they apply for the lic and they are both issued at same time.

If I were you I would apply now. No reason why you can't. See what happens.

Have you tried here?

LGS can apply on your behalf. Perhaps give them a call

Thanks both replies, worked out I could use my application code in place of license number and have submitted PTA. Hopefully it saves a little time.

Yes, submit your permit within the 28 days and it goes through with the licence application. As you've left it longer than that I doubt a permit now would be included in the application but it definitely wouldn't hurt to try. Submit your permits.
