Buying ammunition for a rifle that isn't yours

Post by veep » 10 Oct 2014, 7:59 am

I heard it said that you were not supposed to be able to buy ammunition for a rifle that wasn't yours.

:?

I've done this before for license mates picking up something in their calibre, never been asked about anything, doesn't say anything on my license about what I have and they don't check the computer?

I'm in VIC, is this in force anywhere

Not us mate.

Something they were trying to do in NSW or WA maybe from memory?

Never paid much attention as it wasn't here though, sorry.

in Vic you can buy any ammo suitable for a firearm you can possess for your cat of licence, so if you have a cat A/B, thats any rifle chambering and several pistol chamberings such as 357Mag, 44RemMag 45LC etc as they are usually chambered in a rifle, NOT however 9x19, 45ACP ETC UNLESS, you take along with you your rego cert for a rifle chambered as such.

I understand its different in other states where you can only purchase ammo for your own firearms.....

I think that's where it fell over in the end, the "and several pistol..." bit.

It would either block people from buying things their licensed for, or not stop them for things they didn't.

Totally pointless in other words.

Our firearm laws are not meant to make sense...
They're designed to confuse, confound, restrict and most importantly to dissuade us from owning firearms..to disincentivise the activities.

As we know the tard's endgame is to remove ALL (lawful) firearms from this (and every) country. They know that is very difficult/impossible in the current political climate as such they will seek any and every opportunity to just plain make it hard for us and prevent the increase in firearm numbers...

ACT licences have a list of calibers on the back, you're not supposed to buy a cal you don't own, pop across the boarder (10mins drive) and you can buy what you like.
