Fast Tracked Gun Laws in Victoria?

Post by adam » 28 Oct 2015, 7:44 am

Just caught the news last night hearing Premier Andrews state that he was going to fast track new gun laws.

Does anyone know what these new gun laws are? (I'm guessing if they're 'fast tracked' then that means a knee jerk reaction, and it ain't going to be rational...)

Wasnt that what the feds had done?? If you're found with 3 unregistered firearms OVER a 12 month period, or something like that....I'll have to search out the bill again...

As I recall, if caught with 3 or the period your put away for X years.... and/or no doubt faced with a penalty of up to something stupendous like $150,000...

I'm all for stopping crime (its certainly not a gun crime wave), but honestly I have an issue with ridiculous penalties for possessing inanimate object, and not injuring anyone.....when I have no doubt there are many situations across the nation where properties have 1 2 or even 3 old firearms that possibly no one even remembered there grand dad or dad put them there when they last used them in 1976..or whenever... yes, they are now 'illegal' guns, are by the convenient definition 'grey market' guns..... but now the next generation who run the farm, or the next owner of the property... is elevated to the highest status of criminal in the land.... No. I dont like it.

Trafficking is moving a large quantity, one or more crates, as an illicit operation for obvious criminal or financial reasons... NOT to create a media release and 5 second audio grab to demonstrate the Government are doing something to prevent a drive-by at 4:00am.....

What annoys me more is that we are always hearing about rape and assault penalties resembling a slap on the wrist, while hearing about heavier penalties for innocuous firearm offences...

While on the other hand..... the grabtards, represented by the greens in parliament, always call for lighter drug penalties, legalised drug - but stricter firearm, ban firearms...

If this is true, it would definitely be refreshing news - a politician actually trying to do something about the real problem, instead of just playing the media game and looking like they're doing the right thing to the uneducated as a 'quick fix'.

I have no problems - someone caught multiple times with illegal firearms in a 12 month period deserves to have the book thrown at them. They're the exact type of people that are causing grief for us legitimate owners.

That's the sort of law changes we need , get tough on criminals.

The death penalty doesn't stop drug smugglers nor do trumpeted tough on crime announcements stop the trade in illicit weapons.

My own research has proven, beyond a doubt, that the death penalty is 100% effective in stopping the drug smugglers..... those 2 Australians who were executed.... they will never do it again    :unknown: :violin:
