So how many rounds can you have?
It's not banned in Queensland but you just can't have one!

A heap... I CBF looking it up but something to the effect of 2000 per registered firearm. I'm sure it varies from state to state but I pretty sure you can't just fill up a bunker with ammo if you only have a 22lr & 12g.

Happy to be proven wrong if you can be bothered looking it up.

Tas has no set max number, rather a suitably vague 'no more than the prescribed amount'.

Thanks bladescar and Gwion.
I didn't think every last thing I listed is already law, though. In fact, that was part of the reason for my post. I wanted to alert people to the fact that they had plans then and still must have plans to go further.
In most parts of Australia, shooters with a license are still not limited to purchasing ammo only for guns in their possession as per the laws mooted at the conference of 10 May 1996.
The document from 10 May 1996 referred to purchasing ammo, not how much is stored. I remember talk from the time about limits to the amount a shooter can buy. It is still possible to accumulate thousands of rounds of ammo at only slight risk of prosecution. This is a good thing, but the conference proposed a system where it would not have been possible to do this because you could reach your limit for the year.
It therefore appears that the changes proposed by the conference have still not been fully implemented.

To add a little to my previous comment, I'm pretty sure in some parts of Australia you can still purchase ANY type of ammo in a gun shop upon presentation of a license., so in NSW for example you can buy Cat H ammo on a Cat A/B license.
This is in no way an endorsement of the current very rigid situation. I'm not saying hey it's great. at least you can do that, because of course you should be able to do that.
As I said, I was talking about the police conference of 10/5/1996 as a warning about how much further they might go.
I don't entirely know, but it would seem that they didn't go quite as far as they envisaged because of political reasons and the fear of a public backlash.
Ditto for the amount if ammo a licensed shooter can still purchase. To have no more than one plans to shoot in a year can be anything you decide it to be.
Still, but for how much longer?

This is the case in Victoria.

You need a license to buy "ammunition" or powder, doesn't specify what it's going to be fed to.
