I am amazed every day, more and more, how media can influence opinions. Not just opinion, individuals' moral compass. And even though everyone knows this, that there is agenda and bias in all aspects of mass media, majority just decide to swallow it without questioning.

haha.. have a look at run up to the U.S election. Billionaire loud mouth play boy VS female sociopath. What a choice :D.. but not hard to see who's side the media is on.

I remember my older brother used to do a little shooting with an old Lee Enfield 303.He would take the gun, sling it over his shoulder and catch the train at Fairfield in Sydney and go to wherever he went to shoot. The gun wasn't in a bag, it was out in the open for all the world to see. And no one thought anything about it. Now I know there are laws today to prevent you from such behavior......there may have been the same laws back then, but it wasn't an issue. We lived in a time of blissful ignorance. Can you imagine the reaction toady if you got on a train or tram with an exposed rifle. Not only would you probably lose your license.......you may even lose your liberty. The times they are a changin',.......unfortunately they have already changed. Not I fear necessarily for the better. I really feel old when I look back and say "they were the good old days"

Wow, that sound almost identical to the story my (no deceased) history teacher told us in school.

Whether we like to admit it or not, it's not governments that cause the loss of liberties and tightening of rules. It's the d&@kheads that exploit those freedoms and ruin it for everyone.

Classic example is proving your I.D. these days is an absolute pain in the ass, why? Because dodgy pricks get fake id and get loans that never get paid back etc.

No more guns in public, because some tool was probably piss farting around with one on a train.

More often than not, laws are simply in response to idiots ruining it for us all.

Is it fair? No
Do I like it? No
There will always be humans that choose to take advantage of any perk or loophole they can find.

A classic example, I used to work at a transport company that dealt with "Herbert Adams" (remember them?) and they would crack open a box or two
of Jam or chocolate donuts for us to eat on smoko. Sure enough a couple of wankers decide they will start taking whole boxes home with them. And of course once word of this gets around... boom, no more donuts.

Sadly , we as humans can blame a small minority of arsewipes for pretty much ruining most things that are fun.

Fireworks is another example

This is not those who exploit it. No. These people have existed forever. They are part of the human nature and the gene pool.

Those who allowed themselves to be fooled, scared and exploited by politicians - these are responsible for the outcome.
