Do you think gun laws will get better or worse in the future

Questions about Victorian gun and ammunition laws. Victorian Firearms Act 1996.

As gazza said, semi-automatics and pump action shotguns became much more restricted after Port Arthur. After a university shooting in 2002, handguns were heavily restricted.

As for the gun violence, there were around 13 mass shootings in the previous 18 years prior to Port Arthur. The only rampage shooting since then was in 2002 when someone shot up a classroom at a university in Melbourne, killing 2 and wounding 5. Although, as gazza said as well, gang shootings are going up. For example, from sometime in 2011 until late 2013, Sydney had over 300 reported shootings in the western suburbs. I'm not sure how reliable police statistics are; the number could very well be higher. There's been quite a few this year as well. As far as I know they weren't that frequent years ago.

Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention but shootings seem to be increasing. Could be wrong though.

Was the buy back optional or forced?

It was forced, they announced it and people had a year to turn in their gear.

A copy/paste for you here:

"The gun buy-back scheme started on 1 October 1996 and concluded on 30 September 1997.[22] The buyback purchased and destroyed more than 631,000 firearms, mostly semi-auto .22 rimfires, semi-automatic shotguns and pump-action shotguns. Only Victoria provided a breakdown of types destroyed, and in that state less than 3% were military style semi-automatic rifles."

Ruger Hawkeye in 30-06 Springfield.

Hi guys, its a Quantum battleground TBH... If you think it will not improve then it probably won't but if you are for the most part confident and positive about such things going in a out right great direction positive action is more likely to follow and more quickly

Thoughts become things, you attract what you think

Quantum warfare is used every day by people who know how to use it. Have you ever started a day of bad and then it just never seems to get better? next time you stub your toe don't let it get to you and instead remain positive and visualize a great day in turn increasing your attraction for good things to occur from that point onwards.

Force, fear and intimidation are completely vulnerable forms of warfare which the establishment has used to conquer us(eg. disarm us), Quantum warfare allows one to attack someone without directly engaging target(s). Militaries around the world use Quantum warfare, they just don't openly call it Quantum warfare

Psychological warfare for example... Making your enemy feel like he has no chance by making a show of force would change positive thought to negative thought in turn attracting defeat. this is Quantum warfare.

When we combat such things as gun laws we must think art of war as well.
Ok, so what is our enemies weakness? force, fear and intimidation
What is the best most effective counter to such forms of warfare? Wuantum, some people may refer to "law of attraction" depending on where your from and other factors.

(i hope you fellars have received me well)

I hope I helped, I for one know things will get better and you should to ^_^

Edit: BTW don't forget to educate the masses on the truth and how we are law abiding citizens and not criminals and on how we should never ever be compared to a criminal.

The gun buy back was forced and there was no way out of it unless you went underground (literally) or conformed to the new laws.

The prices paid for the guns surrendered was fair market value, in fact some clunkers were well got rid of. There are now more privately owned firearms than there were before the buy back, but bear in mind there was already "shooters license" then any way, it just wasn't as in depth as we have currently.

I may be an optimist but I believe things will get better. I can't see the day when semi auto's will be back on the table but we now have a viable and active Shooters and Fishers Party. These new laws drove a lot of gun owners into the arms of the Sporting Shooters Assn, where membership blossomed. This then gave gun owners an alliance and a means of helping to fund the Shooters and Fishers Party.

If you want to look at an upside of the current legislation you can now look at how this situation has actually empowered shooters. Yes I'm an optimist but I think we may have some easing of things down the track provided we continue to show that we can be responsible. I hate seeing remarks on any public forum that indicate irresponsible attitudes.

You have to remember that these forums are monitored by anyone who cares to have a look ESPECIALLY the anti's. If you go on any US forum and dare to mention some form of capitulation with the anti gun mob you will be electronically tarred and feathered. The 2nd amendment is viewed as sacred over there.

Yep, that was a nice little windfall for quite a few of them.

Fingers crossed.

There do seem to have been a few forward steps taken lately.

The greens taking a couple of floggings in elections.
A few wins for shooting friendly political parties too.
NSW opening hunting in National parks (despite the debacle that it started out as...)
Growing pest problems in a lot of areas is forcing people to acknowledge hunting as a viable option.
And so on...

Not giant leaps forward, but paving the way at least.
See you on the firing line.
